Coordinar conjugation

Coordinar conjugation - to coordinate

Table of Contents

Coordinar is a Spanish verb which translates into English as “to coordinate”.

Below are all of the conjugations for coordinar in Spanish, in all three moods (indicative/indicativo, subjunctive/subjunctivo and imperative/imperativo) and all of the tenses, for each pronoun.

The vosotros pronoun is mainly used in mainland Spain, and is the informal second-person plural – it could be considered the Spanish version of “y’all”. It is rarely found in Latin America, where ustedes is used instead.

The vos form is used instead of tú in some Spanish speaking countries of South America, especially the Southern Cone (e.g. Argentina and Uruguay) and has a different conjugation.

Coordinar Infinitive

English Infinitive to coordinate
Spanish Infinitive coordinar

Coordinar Gerund and Past Participle

The gerund (gerundio) is used with the continuous tenses, e.g. present continuous (está coordinando) and past continuous (estaba coordinando). The easiest way to think of it is the equivalent of english’s -ing form (e.g. coordinating).

The past participle (participio) is used with perfect tense ‘haber’ verbs, e.g. he coordinado and hubiera coordinado. These are the equivalent of English’s ‘have’ (e.g. have coordinated).

Gerundio / Gerund  coordinando
Participio / Past Participle  coordinado

Coordinar Indicative Conjugations

The basic form of speech, el indicativo is used for making statements, talking about facts, events and things that are certain and objective.

Coordinar Presente / Present

The present tense is as it sounds – it’s for talking about things that are currently going on, which are habitual, or which generally exist. In English, this would be “I coordinate” or “they coordinate”.

Pronoun Spanish
Yo coordino
coordinas
Él / Ella / Usted coordina
Nosotros / as coordinamos
Vosotros / as coordináis
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes coordinan
Vos coordinás

Coordinar Preterite / Pretérito Indefinido

Your simple past tense, e.g. “I coordinated” or “she coordinated” in English.

In Spanish, there are two past tenses where just one is used in English; the pretérite infefinido is typically used to refer to a concrete, specific moment in time.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo coordiné I coordinated
coordinaste You coordinated
Él / Ella / Usted coordinó He / she / you coordinated
Nosotros / as coordinamos We coordinated
Vosotros / as coordinasteis You coordinated
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes coordinaron They / you coordinated
Vos coordinaste You coordinated

Coordinar Imperfect / Pretérito Imperfecto

The pretérito imperfecto roughly translates as “I was coordinating” or “she was coordinating” in English, and is typically used to describe things and set a scene, talk about events without a specific timeframe, or talk about habitual events or states in the past.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo coordinaba I was coordinating
coordinabas You were coordinating
Él / Ella / Usted coordinaba He was / she was / you were coordinating
Nosotros / as coordinábamos We were coordinating
Vosotros / as coordinabais You were coordinating
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes coordinaban They / you were coordinating
Vos coordinabas You were coordinating

Coordinar Perfect / Perfecto

The perfect tense is for talking about things which happened in the past but are still related to the present or continue into the present.

In English, these use the auxiliary verbs ‘have’ and ‘has’ – i.e. “I have coordinated” and “she has coordinated”.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo he coordinado I have coordinated
has coordinado You have coordinated
Él / Ella / Usted ha coordinado He has / she has / you have coordinated
Nosotros / as hemos coordinado We have coordinated
Vosotros / as habéis coordinado You have coordinated
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes han coordinado They / you have coordinated
Vos has coordinado You have coordinated

Coordinar Conditional / Condicional

The conditional is used in place of the English modal verb “would”, i.e. “I would coordinate” or “she would coordinate”. It can be used to talk about hypothetical situations.

Pronoun Spanish Englush
Yo coordinaría I would coordinate
coordinarías You would coordinate
Él / Ella / Usted coordinaría He / she / you would coordinate
Nosotros / as coordinaríamos We would coordinate
Vosotros / as coordinaríais You would coordinate

Coordinar Future / Futuro

The future tense, simply put, replaces the English modal verb “will” – i.e. “I will coordinate” or “they will coordinate”.

It is more commonly used for making a hypothesis about the present. To talk about the future, Spanish speakers frequently use “ir + a + infinivo”, e.g. “van a coordinar” means “They are going to coordinate”.

Yo coordinaré I will coordinate
coordinarás You will coordinate
Él / Ella / Usted coordinará He / she / you will coordinate
