Condimentar conjugation

Condimentar conjugation - to season

Table of Contents

Condimentar is a Spanish verb which translates into English as “to season”.

Below are all of the conjugations for condimentar in Spanish, in all three moods (indicative/indicativo, subjunctive/subjunctivo and imperative/imperativo) and all of the tenses, for each pronoun.

The vosotros pronoun is mainly used in mainland Spain, and is the informal second-person plural – it could be considered the Spanish version of “y’all”. It is rarely found in Latin America, where ustedes is used instead.

The vos form is used instead of tú in some Spanish speaking countries of South America, especially the Southern Cone (e.g. Argentina and Uruguay) and has a different conjugation.

Condimentar Infinitive

English Infinitive to season
Spanish Infinitive condimentar

Condimentar Gerund and Past Participle

The gerund (gerundio) is used with the continuous tenses, e.g. present continuous (está condimentando) and past continuous (estaba condimentando). The easiest way to think of it is the equivalent of english’s -ing form (e.g. seasoning).

The past participle (participio) is used with perfect tense ‘haber’ verbs, e.g. he condimentado and hubiera condimentado. These are the equivalent of English’s ‘have’ (e.g. have seasoned).

Gerundio / Gerund  condimentando
Participio / Past Participle  condimentado

Condimentar Indicative Conjugations

The basic form of speech, el indicativo is used for making statements, talking about facts, events and things that are certain and objective.

Condimentar Presente / Present

The present tense is as it sounds – it’s for talking about things that are currently going on, which are habitual, or which generally exist. In English, this would be “I season” or “they season”.

Pronoun Spanish
Yo condimiento
condimientas
Él / Ella / Usted condimienta
Nosotros / as condimentamos
Vosotros / as condimentáis
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes condimientan
Vos condimentás

Condimentar Preterite / Pretérito Indefinido

Your simple past tense, e.g. “I seasoned” or “she seasoned” in English.

In Spanish, there are two past tenses where just one is used in English; the pretérite infefinido is typically used to refer to a concrete, specific moment in time.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo condimenté I seasoned
condimentaste You seasoned
Él / Ella / Usted condimentó He / she / you seasoned
Nosotros / as condimentamos We seasoned
Vosotros / as condimentasteis You seasoned
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes condimentaron They / you seasoned
Vos condimentaste You seasoned

Condimentar Imperfect / Pretérito Imperfecto

The pretérito imperfecto roughly translates as “I was seasoning” or “she was seasoning” in English, and is typically used to describe things and set a scene, talk about events without a specific timeframe, or talk about habitual events or states in the past.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo condimentaba I was seasoning
condimentabas You were seasoning
Él / Ella / Usted condimentaba He was / she was / you were seasoning
Nosotros / as condimentábamos We were seasoning
Vosotros / as condimentabais You were seasoning
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes condimentaban They / you were seasoning
Vos condimentabas You were seasoning

Condimentar Perfect / Perfecto

The perfect tense is for talking about things which happened in the past but are still related to the present or continue into the present.

In English, these use the auxiliary verbs ‘have’ and ‘has’ – i.e. “I have seasoned” and “she has seasoned”.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo he condimentado I have seasoned
has condimentado You have seasoned
Él / Ella / Usted ha condimentado He has / she has / you have seasoned
Nosotros / as hemos condimentado We have seasoned
Vosotros / as habéis condimentado You have seasoned
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes han condimentado They / you have seasoned
Vos has condimentado You have seasoned

Condimentar Conditional / Condicional

The conditional is used in place of the English modal verb “would”, i.e. “I would season” or “she would season”. It can be used to talk about hypothetical situations.

Pronoun Spanish Englush
Yo condimentaría I would season
condimentarías You would season
Él / Ella / Usted condimentaría He / she / you would season
Nosotros / as condimentaríamos We would season
Vosotros / as condimentaríais You would season

Condimentar Future / Futuro

The future tense, simply put, replaces the English modal verb “will” – i.e. “I will season” or “they will season”.

It is more commonly used for making a hypothesis about the present. To talk about the future, Spanish speakers frequently use “ir + a + infinivo”, e.g. “van a condimentar” means “They are going to season”.
