Analizar conjugation

Analizar conjugation - to analyze

Table of Contents

Analizar is a Spanish verb which translates into English as “to analyze”.

Below are all of the conjugations for analizar in Spanish, in all three moods (indicative/indicativo, subjunctive/subjunctivo and imperative/imperativo) and all of the tenses, for each pronoun.

The vosotros pronoun is mainly used in mainland Spain, and is the informal second-person plural – it could be considered the Spanish version of “y’all”. It is rarely found in Latin America, where ustedes is used instead.

The vos form is used instead of tú in some Spanish speaking countries of South America, especially the Southern Cone (e.g. Argentina and Uruguay) and has a different conjugation.

Analizar Infinitive

English Infinitive to analyze
Spanish Infinitive analizar

Analizar Gerund and Past Participle

The gerund (gerundio) is used with the continuous tenses, e.g. present continuous (está analizando) and past continuous (estaba analizando). The easiest way to think of it is the equivalent of english’s -ing form (e.g. analysing).

The past participle (participio) is used with perfect tense ‘haber’ verbs, e.g. he analizado and hubiera analizado. These are the equivalent of English’s ‘have’ (e.g. have analysed).

Gerundio / Gerund  analizando
Participio / Past Participle  analizado

Analizar Indicative Conjugations

The basic form of speech, el indicativo is used for making statements, talking about facts, events and things that are certain and objective.

Analizar Presente / Present

The present tense is as it sounds – it’s for talking about things that are currently going on, which are habitual, or which generally exist. In English, this would be “I analyse” or “they analyse”.

Pronoun Spanish
Yo analizo
analizas
Él / Ella / Usted analiza
Nosotros / as analizamos
Vosotros / as analizáis
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes analizan
Vos analizás

Analizar Preterite / Pretérito Indefinido

Your simple past tense, e.g. “I analysed” or “she analysed” in English.

In Spanish, there are two past tenses where just one is used in English; the pretérite infefinido is typically used to refer to a concrete, specific moment in time.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo analicé I analysed
analizaste You analysed
Él / Ella / Usted analizó He / she / you analysed
Nosotros / as analizamos We analysed
Vosotros / as analizasteis You analysed
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes analizaron They / you analysed
Vos analizaste You analysed

Analizar Imperfect / Pretérito Imperfecto

The pretérito imperfecto roughly translates as “I was analysing” or “she was analysing” in English, and is typically used to describe things and set a scene, talk about events without a specific timeframe, or talk about habitual events or states in the past.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo analizaba I was analysing
analizabas You were analysing
Él / Ella / Usted analizaba He was / she was / you were analysing
Nosotros / as analizábamos We were analysing
Vosotros / as analizabais You were analysing
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes analizaban They / you were analysing

Analizar Perfect / Perfecto

The perfect tense is for talking about things which happened in the past but are still related to the present or continue into the present.

In English, these use the auxiliary verbs ‘have’ and ‘has’ – i.e. “I have analysed” and “she has analysed”.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo he analizado I have analysed
has analizado You have analysed
Él / Ella / Usted ha analizado He has / she has / you have analysed
Nosotros / as hemos analizado We have analysed
Vosotros / as habéis analizado You have analysed
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes han analizado They / you have analysed
Vos has analizado You have analysed

Analizar Conditional / Condicional

The conditional is used in place of the English modal verb “would”, i.e. “I would analyse” or “she would analyse”. It can be used to talk about hypothetical situations.

analizarías You would analyse
Él / Ella / Usted analizaría He / she / you would analyse
Nosotros / as analizaríamos We would analyse

Analizar Future / Futuro

The future tense, simply put, replaces the English modal verb “will” – i.e. “I will analyse” or “they will analyse”.

It is more commonly used for making a hypothesis about the present. To talk about the future, Spanish speakers frequently use “ir + a + infinivo”, e.g. “van a analizar” means “They are going to analyse”.

Yo analizaré I will analyse
analizarás You will analyse
