Aderezar conjugation

Aderezar conjugation - to season

Table of Contents

Aderezar is a Spanish verb which translates into English as “to season, flavor, embellish”.

Below are all of the conjugations for aderezar in Spanish, in all three moods (indicative/indicativo, subjunctive/subjunctivo and imperative/imperativo) and all of the tenses, for each pronoun.

The vosotros pronoun is mainly used in mainland Spain, and is the informal second-person plural – it could be considered the Spanish version of “y’all”. It is rarely found in Latin America, where ustedes is used instead.

The vos form is used instead of tú in some Spanish speaking countries of South America, especially the Southern Cone (e.g. Argentina and Uruguay) and has a different conjugation.

Aderezar Infinitive

English Infinitive to season, flavor, embellish
Spanish Infinitive aderezar

Aderezar Gerund and Past Participle

The gerund (gerundio) is used with the continuous tenses, e.g. present continuous (está aderezando) and past continuous (estaba aderezando). The easiest way to think of it is the equivalent of english’s -ing form (e.g. seasoning).

The past participle (participio) is used with perfect tense ‘haber’ verbs, e.g. he aderezado and hubiera aderezado. These are the equivalent of English’s ‘have’ (e.g. have seasoned).

Gerundio / Gerund  aderezando
Participio / Past Participle  aderezado

Aderezar Indicative Conjugations

The basic form of speech, el indicativo is used for making statements, talking about facts, events and things that are certain and objective.

Aderezar Presente / Present

The present tense is as it sounds – it’s for talking about things that are currently going on, which are habitual, or which generally exist. In English, this would be “I season” or “they season”.

Pronoun Spanish
Yo aderezo
aderezas
Él / Ella / Usted adereza
Nosotros / as aderezamos
Vosotros / as aderezáis
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes aderezan
Vos aderezás

Aderezar Preterite / Pretérito Indefinido

Your simple past tense, e.g. “I seasoned” or “she seasoned” in English.

In Spanish, there are two past tenses where just one is used in English; the pretérite infefinido is typically used to refer to a concrete, specific moment in time.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo aderecé I seasoned
aderezaste You seasoned
Él / Ella / Usted aderezó He / she / you seasoned
Nosotros / as aderezamos We seasoned
Vosotros / as aderezasteis You seasoned
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes aderezaron They / you seasoned
Vos aderezaste You seasoned

Aderezar Imperfect / Pretérito Imperfecto

The pretérito imperfecto roughly translates as “I was seasoning” or “she was seasoning” in English, and is typically used to describe things and set a scene, talk about events without a specific timeframe, or talk about habitual events or states in the past.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo aderezaba I was seasoning
aderezabas You were seasoning
Él / Ella / Usted aderezaba He was / she was / you were seasoning
Nosotros / as aderezábamos We were seasoning
Vosotros / as aderezabais You were seasoning
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes aderezaban They / you were seasoning
Vos aderezabas You were seasoning

Aderezar Perfect / Perfecto

The perfect tense is for talking about things which happened in the past but are still related to the present or continue into the present.

In English, these use the auxiliary verbs ‘have’ and ‘has’ – i.e. “I have seasoned” and “she has seasoned”.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo he aderezado I have seasoned
has aderezado You have seasoned
Él / Ella / Usted ha aderezado He has / she has / you have seasoned
Nosotros / as hemos aderezado We have seasoned
Vosotros / as habéis aderezado You have seasoned
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes han aderezado They / you have seasoned

Aderezar Conditional / Condicional

The conditional is used in place of the English modal verb “would”, i.e. “I would season” or “she would season”. It can be used to talk about hypothetical situations.

Pronoun Spanish Englush
Yo aderezaría I would season
aderezarías You would season
Él / Ella / Usted aderezaría He / she / you would season
Nosotros / as aderezaríamos We would season
Vosotros / as aderezaríais You would season

Aderezar Future / Futuro

The future tense, simply put, replaces the English modal verb “will” – i.e. “I will season” or “they will season”.

It is more commonly used for making a hypothesis about the present. To talk about the future, Spanish speakers frequently use “ir + a + infinivo”, e.g. “van a aderezar” means “They are going to season”.

aderezarás You will season
Él / Ella / Usted aderezará He / she / you will season
