Acceder conjugation

Acceder conjugation - to accede

Table of Contents

Acceder is a Spanish verb which translates into English as “to accede, agree, consent”.

Below are all of the conjugations for acceder in Spanish, in all three moods (indicative/indicativo, subjunctive/subjunctivo and imperative/imperativo) and all of the tenses, for each pronoun.

The vosotros pronoun is mainly used in mainland Spain, and is the informal second-person plural – it could be considered the Spanish version of “y’all”. It is rarely found in Latin America, where ustedes is used instead.

The vos form is used instead of tú in some Spanish speaking countries of South America, especially the Southern Cone (e.g. Argentina and Uruguay) and has a different conjugation.

Acceder Infinitive

English Infinitive to accede, agree, consent
Spanish Infinitive acceder

Acceder Gerund and Past Participle

The gerund (gerundio) is used with the continuous tenses, e.g. present continuous (está accediendo) and past continuous (estaba accediendo). The easiest way to think of it is the equivalent of english’s -ing form (e.g. consenting).

The past participle (participio) is used with perfect tense ‘haber’ verbs, e.g. he accedido and hubiera accedido. These are the equivalent of English’s ‘have’ (e.g. have consented).

Gerundio / Gerund  accediendo
Participio / Past Participle  accedido

Acceder Indicative Conjugations

The basic form of speech, el indicativo is used for making statements, talking about facts, events and things that are certain and objective.

Acceder Presente / Present

The present tense is as it sounds – it’s for talking about things that are currently going on, which are habitual, or which generally exist. In English, this would be “I consent” or “they consent”.

Pronoun Spanish
Yo accedo
accedes
Él / Ella / Usted accede
Nosotros / as accedemos
Vosotros / as accedéis
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes acceden
Vos accedés

Acceder Preterite / Pretérito Indefinido

Your simple past tense, e.g. “I consented” or “she consented” in English.

In Spanish, there are two past tenses where just one is used in English; the pretérite infefinido is typically used to refer to a concrete, specific moment in time.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo accedí I consented
accediste You consented
Él / Ella / Usted accedió He / she / you consented
Nosotros / as accedimos We consented
Vosotros / as accedisteis You consented
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes accedieron They / you consented
Vos accediste You consented

Acceder Imperfect / Pretérito Imperfecto

The pretérito imperfecto roughly translates as “I was consenting” or “she was consenting” in English, and is typically used to describe things and set a scene, talk about events without a specific timeframe, or talk about habitual events or states in the past.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo accedía I was consenting
accedías You were consenting
Él / Ella / Usted accedía He was / she was / you were consenting
Nosotros / as accedíamos We were consenting
Vosotros / as accedíais You were consenting
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes accedían They / you were consenting
Vos accedías You were consenting

Acceder Perfect / Perfecto

The perfect tense is for talking about things which happened in the past but are still related to the present or continue into the present.

In English, these use the auxiliary verbs ‘have’ and ‘has’ – i.e. “I have consented” and “she has consented”.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo he accedido I have consented
has accedido You have consented
Él / Ella / Usted ha accedido He has / she has / you have consented
Nosotros / as hemos accedido We have consented
Vosotros / as habéis accedido You have consented
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes han accedido They / you have consented
Vos has accedido You have consented

Acceder Conditional / Condicional

The conditional is used in place of the English modal verb “would”, i.e. “I would consent” or “she would consent”. It can be used to talk about hypothetical situations.

Pronoun Spanish Englush
Yo accedería I would consent
accederías You would consent
Él / Ella / Usted accedería He / she / you would consent
Nosotros / as accederíamos We would consent
Vosotros / as accederíais You would consent
Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes accederían They / you would consent
Vos accederías You would consent

Acceder Future / Futuro

The future tense, simply put, replaces the English modal verb “will” – i.e. “I will consent” or “they will consent”.

It is more commonly used for making a hypothesis about the present. To talk about the future, Spanish speakers frequently use “ir + a + infinivo”, e.g. “van a acceder” means “They are going to consent”.

Pronoun Spanish English
Yo accederé I will consent
accederás You will consent
Él / Ella / Usted accederá He / she / you will consent
Nosotros / as accederemos We will consent
